Excavation opportunity at Wimpole Hall

This summer, Oxford Archaeology East will be excavating the site of a late Iron Age and Roman settlement at ‘Lamp Hill’ (south of the current overflow car park) ahead of the development of a new visitor centre and car park for the Wimpole Estate.  A number of places are still available, and applications to participate are welcome from CBA East members and interested parties.

The minimum age for volunteering on this site is 16 years old. Volunteers will need to need to make a commitment for the full working week (5 days, except the week of the August bank holiday), and will be offered a place for one week during the five-week excavation (Monday 13th August – Friday 14th September 2018). Volunteer hours on site will be 10am – 3pm. There will be less physical roles such as processing artefacts and assisting with outreach activities, as well as excavation.

We have a separate application form specifically for this excavation for people to register their interest in taking part: https://bit.ly/2KLInElThe deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 27th July 2018.
